FINALLY GETTING INTO DIGITAL ILLUSTRATION : Procreate

Having an iPad with Procreate has been a game changer for me and I’m so angry with myself that I hadn’t got into digital drawing earlier! I have always loved and appreciated graphic design and digital illustrations that I see everyday on Instagram, in magazines and just pretty much everywhere, and finally I am creating my own designs. I still have so much to learn with Procreate, and I plan on testing out other applications as well. For any one who thinking about getting an iPad to create some digital artworks and you don’t know if you should go for it or not, I say DO IT!

The process I generally go with when I am creating an illustration is first using the HP Sketching pencil with a tan/orange toned colour to sketch out the drawing. REMEMBER TO KEEP ADDING LAYERS layers are so important and so useful, so I make a new layer for every colour I use, every group of shapes and every section of the drawing I am experimenting with as it’s so much easier to edit this way. I use mostly the Technical Pen in the Inking section to draw and colour my illustrations and I find it’s the easiest to use. I like to play around with the size of the line and with the transparency of the line.

I would love to explore creating some animations within the app and being a bit experimental with all the different pens/pencils as there are so many to choose from, as well as the fact you can buy additional ones to add into your app! I am still so new to the world of digital illustration but I loved it so much so far and am excited to see how I improve as time goes on. Here are a few of my illustrations I have created so far, including some of my #PEACHTOBER20 posts.
