VEIL AND EARRINGS FOR A SPECIAL DAY

Hi All!

Last month I created some pieces for the lovely Sharmini for her and her bridesmaids to wear for her special day I was contacted and asked to create these pieces and I feel really warm and fuzzy inside knowing that someone likes my work enough to want it to be part of their wedding day (and trust me enough to create what they envisioned). I created four embroidered earrings within her colour scheme and an embroidered veil, detailed with native plant-life. I had such a lovely experience making these pieces and seeing how they came together on the day, tied in with the overall aesthetic of the celebration was so magical to see. Such a really special experience creating these embroidered works, I wanted to share some wip photos and some thoughts overall!

THE EARRINGS

The earrings were created in the style that I create pieces for my store and markets so I was ver comfortable making them, two pierced and two clip ons, in one colour each. The colour scheme was lovely, definitely colours I lean towards in my own work: a sea green, a sap green, a mustard yellow and a burnt orange, with matching glass bead colours. They all looked great together and even better with the bridesmaids deep forest green dresses. Super pleased with them!

THE VEIL

I started off the process drawing up some sketches of the type of plants I wanted to embroider, and using a scrap piece of the tulle I did a practice circle, getting this approved by the bride. I then begun working in small sections of the veil, taking my time and really focusing in keeping the tulle pulled tight on the hoop but not too tight it would rip! Tulle is really pretty to work with but it is very fragile, you must work carefully. I then kept going around the veil, repeating a pattern and design and worked my way around 2/3 of the fabric. Once again the colours used looked so great together, and looked so stunning in the end on Sharmini, with her flowers and dress.

Let me know what you think of the final products! I loved working on these pieces.
